The 30% to 35% of oversize fraction which has been separated by the primary screen is conveyed to an overband magnet.
The oversize fraction is passed beneath the overband magnet; the ferrous metals are attracted to the magnet and removed from the processed waste stream.
More than 90% of the ferrous metals in the waste stream are recovered for reuse. These metals have through the autoclave process been cleaned and stripped of any labelling, any organic material which may have been contained in such items as cans are also removed.
The ferrous metals that have been removed are conveyed to a ferrous metal baling machine. These ferrous metal bales are then ready to be shipped into the marketplace.

Up to 5% of the material passing beneath the overband magnet may be ferrous metal; the remaining 25% to 30% of oversize fraction are transported to the eddy current separator.
