The discharged material is transferred via belt conveyor to a trommel or debris roll screen which separates the fine fraction from the bulk of the material.
This fine fraction is comprised of the organic material that was within the waste stream and the small fractions such as grit, glass etc. The fine fraction amounts to approximately 65% to 70% of the processed waste however this depends on the make up of the initial waste input. The fine fractions are then conveyed to an air classifier.
The oversize fraction which is the remainder of the material and totals some 30% to 35% of the processed waste stream is conveyed by belt conveyor to the overband magnet.
