Boiler

The boiler utilised in the process is of a standard industrial design as used in for example, a general heating system of a junior school or small hospital and is generally gas fired.

The nature of the process requires steam to be provided in quantity over a short period and then limited amounts of steam during processing to maintain pressure and temperature in the autoclave.

To enable the use of a boiler at or as near maximum efficiency as possible a small boiler is installed that is able to operate continuously and build up a store of energy.

The boiler water level is restored by introducing water via the feed pump over the period when steam is not required and energy is introduced into this water via the fuel being burnt.

The boiler water condition is maintained by controlling the feed water quality and by monitoring of the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and phosphate levels.
