Over the next 2 years, the Jack Allen (Sales & Service) Limited business which incorporated the assembly, sale and after sales service of refuse collection vehicles and a specialist vehicle hire division continued to flourish.
During the first half of 2000, negotiations were underway with Dennis Eagle for the sale of the Refuse Vehicle sales and service element of Jack Allen (Sales & Service) Limited. Upon the conclusion of these negotiations, this arm of the business was sold to Dennis Eagle in December 2000.
January 2001 saw a new Company – Jack Allen Limited – acquire the balance of the businesses following the sale to Dennis Eagle. This business continued to develop until in June 2001 the business was then acquired by Asset Investment Capital Limited and the Company continues to trade today under their ownership.
During the latter part of 2000 and the early part of 2001, research was ongoing by the Allen family into a waste processing system using steam technology. This research lead John and Jonathan Allen to the USA. In the USA they visited a Company that had developed a prototype waste treatment process and had acquired the associated intellectual property rights. A pilot plant had been installed in Sheffield where RTL (Remediation Technology Limited), the UK arm of the US technology owners, operated the plant for development and demonstration purposes.
John and Jonathan Allen, having visited the plant, which proved that the technology could become a viable commercial business, acquired a licence from RTL to market the system in certain areas of the UK. This Company known as Waste Cleansing Reduction and Recycling (WCRR), together with TASS Environmental Technology Limited, shared the UK market with Alba Resource Recovery who hold the licence for Scotland. |
