The company continued to grow and develop new products and were always looking for new ways to improve their business. Early in the history of Jack Allen Motor Body Builders and Repairers it was demonstrated that family ties were all important and when the company became Limited the shares were divided equally between father and son. True to form history repeated itself and at a board meeting John took Jonathan to one side and asked him if he would like to take over responsibility for the main company (Jack Allen (Sales and Service) Ltd). Given an affirmative Jonathan was duly appointed Managing Director with his father remaining active in the company as Chairman of the JA Group.

Family tradition also continued with business development and soon a different type of business - but still within the waste industry was being explored. You could say it was a natural progression from refuse vehicle and disposal to an environmentally friendly refuse treatment process.
