Due to John Allen's association with Heil (USA) his father Jack was becoming increasingly concerned that they were burning their bridges saying that "we are treading on dangerous ground here son, they (Dennis) are going to chop us". In true family and business spirit they decided to "go for it". This led to the sourcing of a new chassis manufacturer - Seddon and subsequent development of new Seddon based Colectomatic refuse vehicles known as SAM (Seddon Allen Municipals) and the split from the original relationship with Dennis.
